🤔Relational task boards are...

boards that exchange and mirror information.

Establishing a relationship creates a 2-way sync so any changes to one board will automatically update the other.

Creating relational task boards first requires establishing a relationship through the relationship column, then mirroring data with the mirror column.

  • 🚩The Relationship Column represents the 'Name' column from the board you're connecting to.

  • 🚩The Mirror Column displays any column from the board you have connected to.

😍Step 1: Add a relationship column

In this example, I have two boards--one called Clients for client info and another board called Contracts for contractual agreements.

I want to pull the contract status from the Contracts board and display it on the Clients board.

First, I...

  • Open the Clients board

  • Navigate to 'Add Column'

  • Select the 'Relationship' column type

In the setup pop-up...

  • Give the column a name

    • 🚩Remember, the relationship column is always the 'Name' column of the board to which we're establishing a connection. In this instance, it represents the name of the contract, so I've labeled the column as 'Contract.'

  • Select the workspace where the Contracts board resides

  • Select the Contracts board

  • Click Save

Now we have our new column called 'Contract'. I click 'Not Set' in each row to link the contracts to the corresponding clients.

🔎Step 2: Add a Mirror Column

Time to pull in the contract status!

On the same board, I navigate to 'Add Column' and select the 'Mirror' column.

Because I am mirroring the status column from the Contracts board, I'm calling this column 'Contract Status.'

The contract status automatically populates and reflects any changes made to the status on the Contracts board and vice versa.
